About the event

JOURNAL: Ch 4: 6 Get Social

ICEBREAKER: Social Selfie: Each participant will take a quick, imaginary selfie with their phone. As they “snap” the photo, they will say one thing about themselves they would like to share (e.g., a fun fact, a current social activity, or something they value in social interactions)

OBJECTIVE: Identify and reflect on current social roles and relationships. Explore aspirations for social identity and desired social connections. Understand the gap between current social self and ideal social self. Develop self-awareness and set goals for improving social interactions.

PROJECT: Social Self Portrait: Part 1: Create a self-portrait that represents their current social identity. Encourage the use of symbols, colors, and images that reflect their current roles, relationships, and feelings about their social life. Part 2: On a separate section of the paper, create a vision board or collage that represents their ideal social identity. This can include desired social roles, qualities, and the types of relationships they aspire to have.

DISCUSS: How would you describe your current social self? What are some of the roles or identities you play in your social life right now? Who are the people you interact with most often? How do they influence you? What qualities or traits would you like to have in your social interactions or roles? How does your ideal social self differ from your current social self?

REFLECT: Share artwork and explain the contrast between current and ideal social selves.

CLOSE: Express gratitude for participation and openness. Provide resources for further support or exploration of the theme if needed. Summarize key insights and takeaways from the session.
